Tearing down the house

Sad news from múm’s blog:

We just wanted to tell you about a very special festival we played a couple of weekends ago. It was called ‘Látíð í bæ’ which means something like ‘Low-tide in town’, we guess and it was a protest against the demolition of old houses in the city centre. In the next couple of year the city of Reykjavík and various contractors are going to annihilate most of the old city center to make way for new houses and big shopping centers. The festival took place in the the old hang-out Sirkus, the bar has now been closed down and is awaiting the wrecking ball. Most every musician or band in town at that point played the festival and the line-up was quite amazing: 1985!, Amiina, Ampop, Barði Jóhannsson, Berglind Ã?gústsdsóttir, Bob Justman, Benni Hemm Hemm, Bloodgroup, Bogomil Font, Borkó, Botnleðja, Cocktail Vomit, Curver, Dr. Gunni, Flís, Ghostigital, Gusgus DJ-set, Hjaltalín, Hjálmar, Hudson Wayne, Jagúar, Jakóbínarína, Jan Mayen, Kira Kira, K.K., Megas, Motion Boys, Mr. Silla & Mongoose, Mugison, Music Zoo, múm, My Summer as a Salvation Soldier, Orgelkvartettinn Ananas, Páll Óskar, Pétur Ben, Rass, Trabant Experience, Retro Stefson, Reykjavík!, Seabear, Singapore Sling, Sigur Rós, Skátar, Skakkamanage, Slowblow, Sometime, Sprengjuhöllin, Valgeir Sigurðsson, XXX Rotweiler, Æla, Ölvis

Sadly the struggle against the demolition of downtown Reykjavik has not been efficient and all help is appreciated.

Thank you,

bless bless,
múm
